Here’s the step by step instructions on how to get your possessions insured.
• Fill in the inventory sheet
If you have booked the movers to get out the hassle of packing, unpacking & moving on your own, your movers will ask you to fill in a high value inventory sheet. You will have to fill in all the details regarding your high value possessions which might include all the expensive fragile antiques, crockery, appliances etc
The basic purpose of filling out the inventory sheet is to brief the movers, which of your possessions are to awfully take care of. Let’s move on to the next step which is making the claim, if any of your possessions are damaged by your mover company.
• Making the Claim:
There are two ways you can make your claim, one is either before signing your inventory sheet and the other one is after.
How to claim before signing the inventory? If you see any damage done while packing or during the procedure by your mover company, just address the facts in detail on your original inventory sheet before you sign it.
How to claim after signing the inventory? If you notice any damages after unpacking it is obligatory to file a claim within 9 months of the delivery. You must file your claim as soon as possible. The movers will certify your claim receipt within 30 days and will deny or make on offer within 120 days after they’ve certified your claim receipt.
While making your claim make sure you refer to the liability amount declared on your shipment.
